Membership Benefits
Members benefit from the collective experience of the group as well as dahlia growers nationwide through the American Dahlia Society (ADS). Our embers can learn from experienced growers on what dahlia cultivation techniques work best in their areas. Meetings are held regularly and include topics like:
Soil preparation
Fertilization & watering
Topping & pinching
Staking & tying
Insects, pests, & disease control
Grooming & staging for exhibition
Showing and judging dahlia blooms
Tuber winter storage & division
Tuber exchange & sale
Growing from cuttings & seeds
And more
We invite you to join our dahlia society and be a part of a bigger group of dedicated dahlia growers. The New England Dahlia Society (NEDS) hosts monthly meetings at the Senior Center in Westwood, MA and on occasion over Zoom. NEDS also offers members early access to our popular dahlia tuber sale and the opportunity to be a part of our Annual Dahlia Show at the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill. We also offer additional events like open dahlia gardens, picnics, photo contests, tuber swaps, workshops and more.
We suggest to add a membership to the American Dahlia Society (ADS) with your NEDS membership. ADS members will receive the Bulletin of the American Dahlia Society (3 issues a year) with educational and fun dahlia articles, access to a wealth of information on the members-only section of the ADS website, and the annual Classification and Handbook of Dahlias, a valuable guide to the many different dahlia varieties. Your ADS membership fee also supports ADS’ mission, which includes dahlia research studies, trial gardens and seedling evaluations of new varieties, the Dahlia Classification System, and the network of ADS sanctioned dahlia shows. You can join ADS either through NEDS or directly at the ADS website: www.dahlia.org/about/membership-join/
If you are interested in joining NEDS, please email us directly using our contact form. You may also sign-up for membership at one of our meetings. New members are always welcome.
